Jaime Aramberri, MD

Jaime Aramberri, MD, was born in San Sebastian, Spain, on August 14th, 1964 and graduated in Medicine from the University of Pais Vasco, Spain, in 1988. He completed his ophthalmology residency at the Hospital Universitario of Salamanca, Spain in 1992.

From 1993 to 1996, he served at the Hospital of Galdakao and from 1996 to 2003, he was at the Hospital of Gipuzkoa, both of the Basque health public system.
Since 1994 he is founder associate of the Okular Clinic in Vitoria, Spain and is presently the Medical Director of the Refractive Surgery department there. Since 1999, he is the founder and associate of the Begitek Clinic in San Sebastián, Spain, and is presently responsible for the refractive surgery department.
He specialized in Cataract and refractive surgery and has more than 25 years of experience in corneal laser surgery, phakic IOLs and pseudophakic IOLs. He pioneered the implantation of multifocal and toric IOLs in Spain. His 2003 paper on the concept of using a “Double K” method for IOL power formulas in post-corneal refractive surgery eyes had a profound effect on improving the accuracy of results.
He is a founding Executive Committee member of the IOL Power Club since 2005, its 2nd President in 2007 and presently serves as its Vice-president (2021-2023).
He has authored more than 15 papers in peer-reviewed journals, more than 20 chapters in textbooks and has edited two books on IOL power calculation. He has presented more than 50 papers at national and international meetings and has presented more than 500 lectures in meetings and courses.
He lives with his wife, Maria, in San Sebastian, Spain.
