David Flikier, MD
Dr. Flikier was born in San José, Costa Rica, on December 19, 1965.

He graduated in Medicine (first in class) at Universidad Autónoma de Centro América (UACA) in 1987. He completed 3 years of residency in general surgery in Universidad de Costa Rica in 1991, the year he started his studies and residency in Ophthalmology in Colombia at Barraquer Clinic with Dr. José Ignacio Barraquer in Escuela Superior de Oftalmología. He was honored the distinction of Chief Resident and did a year of ophthalmic pathology with Dr. Francisco Barraquer.
On his return to Costa Rica he founded and was the Director of the Ocular Surgery Institute (1994-2022), a private ophthalmic multispecialty clinic, where he mainly focuses on anterior segment pathology, cornea, cataract and refractive surgery.
His principal research area is in Optics/Biometry/IOL power calculation. He has authored multiple papers and book chapters. He is the creator of the Panacea IOL and Toric Calculator, a multi-formula software platform which is a free downloadable application for multiple devices.
