This 1993 study provides evidence of the immersion A-scan crystalline lens thickness (LT) and variations due to age and axial length in cataractous eyes. Series is large that data can be used in estimating LT for formulas.

My first paper about IOL power calculation. It allowed me to join the IPC. Soon after its publication, in fact, Ken wrote me for the first time and we got in touch.

Although corneal topography and the Pentacam provide similar SimK values, their data should not be used interchangeably as only moderate agreement exists between them. Corneal power values calculated by the True net power are signifi cantly lower than any SimK and cannot be entered into intraocular lens power formulas.
Study was to prospectively evaluate keratometry (K) values obtained by Scheimpflug photography in eyes scheduled for cataract surgery, compare the results with K values obtained with an autokeratometer (automated K), and evaluate the K values in commonly used intraocular lens (IOL) power calculation formulas for routine cataract surgery. The K values from Scheimpflug photography did not improve accuracy over autokeratometer values for routine IOL power calculation.
Study performed at the Jules Stein Eye Institute UCLA comparing the Holladay EKR of the Pentacam (ver 1.16r04) with back-calculation of the true K power. Twenty-seven patients (41 eyes) were evaluated; 26 eyes had previous LASIK or PRK and 15, previous RK. 41 eyes served as controls. The mean error of the Holladay EKR in eyes with previous LASIK or PRK was +1.84 diopters (D) (range +0.66 to +4.94 D). The mean error in eyes with previous RK was 2.17 D (range +0.48 to +3.09 D). In the control eyes, the mean EKR error was +1.38 D (range -0.17 to C2.54 D).
